My Favorite Mommy (or Anyone!) Workout

If you’re anything like me, you’ve looked for tons of workout programs and plans and fads to join.

And if you’re even more like me, you can never stick with it.

Let me tell you about the one I have been able to stick with.

It is a 15-day challenge, so it short enough to not be too overwhelming.

Best of all, it’s FREE.

Have you ever heard of IdealShape? I hadn’t either until I saw an ad on Facebook. I ignored it for a while, didn’t have any money to spend on extras like that sorta thing. But then I saw their ad for a fitness challenge, with my favorite word: FREE.

And it was geared towards mamas. A dream come true.

So I clicked the ad, gave it a quick lookie and signed up.

Holy sweat stains, Batman.

I was (still am) in love!

Click here to check it out yourselves.

Here’s how it works: Trainer Nicole, the gorgeous, superfit mama in charge, leads these 25 minutes workouts. She has two different modifiers, a pregnant mama and a post-baby mama. I LOVE this because just starting out, I needed a bit of modifying to be able to finish the workout.

Also, I HATE seeing workout videos where EVERYONE is fit and can run 10 miles without breaking a sweat. Seriously, shove it.

There are two blocks (or group of moves) each workout, which you do three times each. These contain both strength and cardio/core moves. There are also a few cardio-only days, which involve walking and sprinting (or high knees, burpees, anything that gets your heart going), as well as two rest days. I love cardio days cause I’ll throw on Dragon Ball or something on Netflix and walk in place for 60-90 seconds and then use my foot stool for toe touches for 30 seconds.

When you sign up, you receive a few free goodies! You get an individual meal plan for pregnant, nursing, and post-baby moms; free live support from Trainer Nicole herself and other Fit Mommy members; and my favorite part, the Facebook group. This group is jam packed full of other ladies who are trying to get fit. Check this daily for inspiration, some gym and mama humor, and tons of advice.

I also highly recommend trying out some of the IdealShape products, which go hand in hand with this challenge and meal plan. I’ve tried TONS of different proteins and meal replacements, and IdealShakes are so great!

Another must-have to use during this program (or any other workout you do, or just life!) is a fitness watch/band. I absolutely love my Garmin Vivofit 2. It tells the time, date, steps, steps until daily goal, calories burnt, distance traveled, and can be paired with a heart rate monitor. All this info is right on the watch, you don’t have to check the app to access your stats. Oh, and the battery lasts ONE YEAR. Yeah. At roughly $10 LESS than a Fitbit Flex, which tells dot, two dot, blue dot..:P  I’m extremely happy with my Garmin. Get yours here!

I’ve seen great results from this program and can’t wait to see what the next month/six months/year brings! I hope to post an update in the near future with some before/after pics, but let me get rid of some more pudge, first! Give it a try and let me know how it works for you (:
